Google Unveils NotebookLM Business Plan With Team Features
Google has launched a paid business tier for NotebookLM, its AI research tool, adding shared notebooks and admin controls for teams.
Google Brings NotebookLM to Business Teams
Google has announced a business version of NotebookLM, its popular AI research and summarisation tool. The new plan adds features specifically designed for teams working together, including shared notebooks, admin controls, and higher usage limits.
What NotebookLM Does
NotebookLM lets you upload documents, PDFs, reports, and web pages, then ask questions about them in plain language. It reads your source material and gives answers grounded in what you uploaded, rather than making things up from general training data. This makes it particularly useful for reviewing long contracts, research reports, or product documentation.
The consumer version has been free, but it limited how much you could upload and did not allow team collaboration.
What the Business Plan Adds
The new business tier allows multiple people to work in the same notebook, which means a team can collectively analyse documents and build a shared knowledge base. Admins can manage access and see usage across the organisation. Google has also increased the number of sources you can add per notebook.
Pricing is tied to Google Workspace, so businesses already paying for Gmail and Google Docs may find this integrates neatly into what they already use.
Why This Matters
For small and medium businesses, NotebookLM offers a practical way to make large amounts of internal information searchable and queryable without building anything custom. Teams that deal with lots of documents, such as legal, finance, or operations, could save significant time by asking questions instead of reading everything manually.
What to Do Next
If your team already uses Google Workspace, log into your admin console to check if NotebookLM Business is available on your plan. Run a pilot with one team and a set of documents they regularly reference to measure time saved before rolling out more broadly.
