WordPress Now Lets AI Agents Write and Publish Your Website Content

What happened

WordPress.com has added write capabilities to its AI agent integration, meaning tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor can now create, edit, and publish content on your website directly through natural language instructions.

WordPress.com powers a significant portion of the internet's websites. The update builds on MCP (Model Context Protocol) support the platform introduced last year. Previously, AI tools could only read your site's content, settings, and analytics. Now they can act on it.

With the new capabilities enabled, an AI agent can draft and publish blog posts, build landing pages and About pages, manage and reply to comments, restructure categories and tags, fix alt text and image captions to improve SEO, and match your site's existing design and branding automatically. All changes require owner approval and AI-written posts are saved as drafts by default.

To try it, WordPress.com customers go to wordpress.com/mcp, toggle on the features they want, then connect a compatible AI tool like Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, or Cursor.
