What happened

Perplexity has launched Perplexity Health, a new feature that pulls together your health data from multiple sources and uses it to answer health questions with personalised context. It connects to Apple Health on iPhone, wearables including Fitbit, Ultrahuman and Withings, and electronic health records through a HIPAA-compliant partner called b.well Connected Health.

The idea is simple: your health data is currently scattered across a dozen different apps and portals. Perplexity Health brings it all together in one place, so when you ask it a question like "why is my resting heart rate elevated this week?", it can cross-reference your fitness data, recent lab results and medical history rather than giving you a generic answer based on average population data.

The launch makes Perplexity the third major AI platform to integrate with Apple Health in just three months, following OpenAI's ChatGPT Health in January and Microsoft's Copilot Health earlier in March. Integrations with Oura and Function are said to be coming soon.

What this means for your business

For most UK business owners, the immediate relevance is personal rather than operational: this is a genuinely useful health tool if you or your employees are already using wearables or NHS-connected health apps.

The bigger picture is a shift in how AI is being positioned. The health data race shows that the major AI platforms are not just trying to help with work tasks; they want to be the central interface for your personal life too. That changes the equation when choosing which platform to invest in for your business. A team already using Perplexity for research now has another reason to stay in that ecosystem.

For businesses in wellness, healthcare, HR or employee benefits, this trend is worth watching closely. AI that can reason over real health data is moving from consumer novelty to something with genuine practical weight.
